A large mount of class time will be spent outdoors. A current CPR/AED certification is a pre-requisite and documentation must be brought with you to the first class. Wilderness First Aid is invaluable to you, when you are hours away from available emergency medical services -- you will be thankful that you took this course!
Afterschool Hiking (Ages 7-12)
Take a walk on the wild side with the Breckenridge Recreation Department, as we spend time hiking and exploring Breckenridge. Being on a trail in the mountains exposes children to wonders they never thought they would experience. Hikes are made to be especially kid-friendly as we will stop for trail-side activities and games. A chance to escape from our busy schedules to experience unstructured time in nature can do wonders for a child's social, physical and emotional development! No class September 28.
A completed waiver is required before the start of the program..
Dates: August 31-October 5
Afterschool Mountain Biking (Ages 8-13)
Biking season in Breckenridge isn't over yet! Let's keep those bikes rolling and put the rubber to the dirt. Each Wednesday we head out to a select Summit County trail to ride and refine our skills on the bike while enjoying the beautiful scenery the high country has to offer. All participants must have a way to carry their own water, a helmet, have some prior mountain biking experience, an appropriate and well tuned bike and are strongly encouraged to bring a snack, rain gear and an extra layer. No class on September 26. A completed waiver is required before the start of the program.
