Figure Skating in Breckenridge

Figure skating for all levels is offered at the Stephen C. West Ice Arena. We offer instruction, ice time and biannual performances. From never-evers to competitive skaters and locals to out-of-town visitors, we have a skating program to suit you.

Skaters are required to pay a one-time annual membership fee to LEARN TO SKATE USA by clicking here. This ensures membership, additional skating information and benefits as a skater in the program. USFS Basic Skills program is for recreational, figure and hockey skaters.

Dry Land Figure Skate Training (Ages 9 & Up)

This is an off-ice group class for figure skaters who are serious about improving their strength and technique in skating. Class structures will vary depending on instructor and skaters levels and ages. Workouts include core strengthening, overall endurance training, jumps technique, and even some ballet conditioning! Adding dry land training can completely transform a skaters abilities and is an essential aspect of training for skaters who want to advance beyond the Basic Skills levels. It is also necessary to learn how to strengthen and stretch the body to prevent injury on the ice.

Basic skating skills are required for this class. For questions regarding skating ability, please contact the Ice Programs Coordinator at 970-547-3147. SHOWTIME (Ages 10-17)

The weekly SHOWTIME class focuses on learning and practicing a choreographed group number for the Spring Ice Show, held Saturday, June 1. More group numbers are now being included in our bi-annual ice skating shows to take them beyond the exhibition level. Skaters perform with other skaters of similar skating levels, so the group skating routines are a great way to meet other skaters and to have fun! All soloists need to participate in a choreographed group routine in order to skate a solo in the show. Skaters enrolling in SHOWTIME should have basic skating skills and either be participating in ice skating classes or taking private lessons to continue to improve their skating skills. If you or your child would like to participate in SHOWTIME, but are not currently enrolled in an ice skating group class or private lessons, please contact the Ice Programs Coordinator, at 970-547-3147 for approval.
