Financial assistance is available through the Bentley Bedker Scholarship. Scholarships may be applied to climbing programs and equipment fees.

Beginner Climbing Camp

Beginner Climbing Camps (Ages 6-12)

Calling all climbing kids! Come out for an amazing week of climbing and having fun. Learn basic techniques in knots, belaying, and climbing movement. The final day of each camp is outdoors, climbing on real rock here in Summit County, returning to the Rec Center by 1:00pm.   If you've already attended a Beginner Climbing Camp, check out our Intermediate Climbing Camp to pick up where you left off last summer to keep the climbing going! Upon successful completion, climbers may move to our Intermediate Climbing Camp. Please complete the online Climbing Camp Waiver prior to your session. No camp on Wednesdays.

Suggested personal equipment for outdoor climbing day: Comfortable shoes for approach, water bottle, snack, wind/rain jacket, extra layers, sunscreen/lip balm, hat, camera. 

Climbing campers can enjoy a full day of fun by joining Breckenridge Mountain Camp at the Recreation Center for the afternoon. Click here for more information on half-day BMC.  Campers may also attend the BMC field trip on Wednesday.

Intermediate Climbing Camps (Ages 7-12)

So you're a veteran of Beginner Climbing Camp and you want to learn more about the technical side of climbing? This camp is just for you! Learn new skills including rappelling, advanced climbing techniques, and much more! As always, on Fridays we will be climbing outdoors, returning to the Rec Center by 1:00pm.  

To register for this program, participants must have attended a Beginners Climbing Camp within the past 3 years or must receive approval from a Climbing Wall Instructor or the Outdoor Programs Coordinator. For questions, please call the Outdoor Programs Coordinator at 970-547-4324. Upon successful completion, climbers may move to the Advanced Climbing Camp. Please complete the online Climbing Camp Waiver prior to your session. No camp on Wednesdays.

Advanced Climbing Camps (Ages 8-14)

So you've been through our Beginner and Intermediate Climbing Camps and you still can't get enough? Then this camp is for you! We spend the first two days on the climbing wall learning some new skills and refreshing others from 8:00am-12:00pm. On Thursday and Friday, we depart Summit County for Independence Pass and Monitor Rock in beautiful Lake County for full days of outdoor climbing. On Thursday and Friday, campers depart Breckenridge at 8:00am and return to the Recreation Center at 4:00pm. All participants are responsible for lunch each day and are required to have a backpack, sunscreen, plenty of water (2L or more), rain gear and extra layers. Please complete the online Climbing Camp Waiver prior to your session. No camp on Wednesdays.
