Afterschool Lacrosse (Ages 5-12)

Want to get your child involved in the fastest growing sport in Summit County? Then the afterschool lacrosse program is right up their alley! The goal of this 9-week program is to develop participant's lacrosse skills and to instill confidence in the players. This program gets participants ready to play in the Summit Stix competitive lacrosse programs. Afterschool Lacrosse is open to all Summit County boys and girls, however, parents must provide transportation if your child does not attend Upper Blue or Breckenridge Elementary. Limited rental gear is available for an additional $50 (not included in the program fee). A refundable $50 rental deposit is also required.

Transportation is provided from Upper Blue and Breckenridge Elementary. Lacrosse equipment is not allowed on buses and may be dropped off at the Recreation Center prior to class.

Afterschool Skateboarding (Ages 5-11)

Has your child been riding the skate park all summer and still can't get enough? Let our coaching staff teach her/him the skills to keep improving on their board. All children are required to wear a helmet and bring their own skateboard. This is a session-based class - no drop-ins allowed. No class on Monday, September 4.

Transportation is provided from Upper Blue and Breckenridge Elementary. Students not attending Breckenridge schools are encouraged to participate but need to provide their own transportation. Parents: Skateboards are not allowed on the school bus. You must make other arrangements to drop off your child's skateboard and equipment in the Multipurpose Room of the Breckenridge Recreation Center. We will not transport skateboard equipment from the school. Please complete a waiver for this program by clicking here.

NEW! Afterschool Mountain Biking (Ages 8-13)

Biking season in Breckenridge isn't over yet! Let's keep those bikes rolling and put the rubber to the dirt. Join us this September for our month-long afterschool mountain bike program. Each Wednesday we head out to a select Summit County trail to ride and refine our skills on the bike while enjoying the beautiful scenery the high country has to offer. All participants must have a way to carry their own water, a helmet, have some prior mountain biking experience, an appropriate and well tuned bike and are strongly encouraged to bring a snack, rain gear and an extra layer. This program runs every Wednesday in September - no drop-ins allowed.

Transportation is provided from Upper Blue and Breckenridge Elementary. Students not attending Breckenridge schools are encouraged to participate but need to provide their own transportation. Parents: Please plan on making arrangements to drop off your child's mountain bike, helmet, and other equipment at the Breckenridge Recreation Center Multipurpose Room. Please complete a waiver for this program by clicking here.

NEW! Afterschool Hiking (Ages 7-10)

Take a walk on the wild side with the Breckenridge Recreation Department, as we spend time hiking and exploring Breckenridge. Being on a trail in the mountains exposes children to wonders they never thought they would experience. Hikes are made to be especially kid-friendly as we will stop for trail-side activities and games. A chance to escape from our busy schedules to experience unstructured time in nature can do wonders for a child's social, physical and emotional development!

Transportation is provided from Upper Blue and Breckenridge Elementary. Students not attending Breckenridge schools are encouraged to participate but need to provide their own transportation. Participants meet in the Multipurpose Room of the Breckenridge Recreation Center. No class September 15.Please complete a waiver for this program by clicking here.

NEW! Youth Flag Football League (Ages 7-11)

Come join us on Monday nights for some fun 5 on 5 flag football action. The league will take place at the Kingdom Park South Field located at the Breckenridge Recreation Center. The first two weeks we will work on football skills and strategies. The remaining four weeks of the season will consist of a 30 minute practice and a 45 minute game. 2nd and 3rd grade division will take place from 5:00-6:15 pm. 4th and 5th grader division will take place from 6:15-7:30pm.

Volunteer coaches are needed for this program. If you are interested, please contact Cody Aidala, Sport & Special Events Coordinator. Please complete a sports waiver BEFORE the start of the program.

Afterschool Beginner Tumbling Level 1 (Ages 5-12)

The goal of this tumbling class is to improve tumbling ability and to keep moving with momentum. Tumbling skills taught in this course include round offs, cartwheels in series, front walkovers followed by round off back handspring or back tucks. This is a fast moving environment performing tasks such as cartwheel races, synchronized tumbling and creating tumbling lines. A solid cartwheel, forward and back rolls and a bridge kick are skills needed for this class. A completed Sports Waiver is required before the start of the program.

Afterschool Beginner Tumbling Level 2 (Ages 5-12)

The goal of this tumbling program is to provide your child with a more complete understanding of the skills required for a back and front handspring. Participants work toward back and front tucks/layouts with the ultimate goal of creating a tumbling line using these skills. A solid understanding of the tuck, arch and hollow shapes vastly improves your child's ability to obtain or perfect these skills. Participants must have perfected a solid cartwheel on both sides, round offs, forward and backward handstands, front and back walkovers. Child also must be instructor approved in order to register. A completed Sports Waiver is required before the start of the program.

Breckenridge Fencing Club (Ages 8 & Up)

The classic sport of fencing in now available in Breckenridge!  Our adult/junior beginner drop-in sessions are structured for anyone ages 8 and older. This introductory class teaches participants the basics and fundamentals of fencing.  Participants are responsible for securing their own equipment, however, some equipment is available through the Recreation Center. Please contact the Sports Coordinator for information (contact information is below).  Participants may drop-in for designated drop-in sessions. Please pay drop-in fees and purchase punch passes at the Front Desk.

Private lessons may be purchased with a 20-session punch pass for $85. To schedule a private lesson, please contact the Sports Coordinator at (970) 547-4321 or via email.
